Canaan Records Opens Their Vault

Via the SN forums, Canaan Records is promising to rerelease classic recordings in their vault via iTunes. A Christmas album should be available as of yesterday with classic tunes, and via this website we are promised recordings by the Rex Nelon Singers, Blue Ridge, Cathedrals, and the like. Time will tell if this comes to fruition, but let’s hope there winds up being more in this vault than there was in Al Capone’s. 🙂
I hope the re-releases of the groups are complete albums and not just “Best of” type collections. Also worth mentioning, if you sign up to be on Canaan’s email list, you get a free download from one of their “latest releases.” I signed up but haven’t gotten confirmation yet. I’m hoping downloads from The LeFevre Quartet are available!
As far as Al Capone’s vault goes…I remember staying up late watching that Geraldo special. Yup, I was one of the suckers that witnessed the biggest letdown in Live TV history.
Maybe we’ll get a remastered edition of the Kingsmen’s “Big and Live” (not the Homeland reissue), as well as the Cat’s 70’s catalog….
Another artist I forgot was on Canaan (until last night) was Steve Sanders. He recorded all of his gospel hits on Canaan through his teenage years.
Looking over the discography, the mouth waters…see:
