Charlie Burke Passes Away

The news hit this morning that Charlie Burke has passed away.  Many casual fans may not know the name Charlie Burke (who, by the way, is no relation to yours truly), but very few have had the impact on the industry that Charlie had.  Charlie is probably most well known as the long time owner of the Singing Americans, and helped to launch the careers of people like Danny Funderburk, Ivan Parker, Michael English, Clayton Inman, Mike Lefevre, and Rick Strickland, among others.  He also owned the Tape Corporation of America (TCA), which was a widely used recording duplication company.  Charlie was also a co-owner and board member of the NQC.  Mr. Burke’s contributions to the Southern Gospel industry are numerous and he leaves a lasting legacy in SG.  He will be sorely missed.  Prayers and condolences to the Burke family.
