I’ve yet to see the nominations online for the Southern/Country song and album, so I will update with those as soon as I can find them.  It’s great to see some SG talent being recognized in the multi-genre categories, such as Jason Crabb and Doug Anderson up in the male vocalist category, Janet Paschal in the female vocalist, and Triumphant Quartet in Song of the Year.  Best of luck to all the SG nominees.

The complete listing of the dove nominations can be found at The Tennessean’s website. http://blogs.tennessean.com/tunein/2011/02/16/tobymac-jason-crabb-francesca-battistelli-lead-dove-awards-nominations/

It would be nice if SG would actually WIN something in these categories every so often. Instead they just keep getting token nominations.

At any rate, my predictions looking over this list are:

Male Vocalist: Brandon Heath won last year, and that sort of thing tends to repeat itself, so I’d put it on Brandon again.

Female Vocalist: Kerrie Roberts has turned some heads and just might take it this year, but I think it may go back to Natalie Grant.

Group of the Year: Wow, Casting Crowns wasn’t nominated? Well, this year I’d say perhaps Tenth Avenue North.

Artist of the Year: Not really sure…perhaps Chris Tomlin?

Song of the Year: I think “Our God” is the favorite, with “Starry Night” a dark horse.

Long form video: If Casting Crowns is nominated, you just know they’re going to win it–whatever it is.

Have something to say?
