SG on American Idol 2011

My wife and I continued our yearly tradition of watching American Idol together last night, and lo and behold, SG was once again represented.  Last night’s appearance came in the form of 16 year old Victoria Huggins, who has been singing SG since she was very small.  When she said her name, Christy and I both immediately recognized her from seeing her in the Singing News.

Victoria sang “Midnight Train to Georgia” and did very well with the song.  She also was impressive in her comeback to Steven Tyler’s comment about showing “the right amount of leg” that she wanted to  “remain a lady.”  Victoria got a “Yes” vote from all three judges and was passed to the Hollywood round of the competition, so like Brad Hudson and Bryan Walker before her, we’ll have to keep an eye on her progress through the competition.

Perusing through Facebook last night, I happen to catch mention of another young SG artist that may be on the show as well, but I’ll hold off on saying too much until we see if said artist is shown on the audition.  Be paying attention to the Austin, TX audition show.  Congratulations and good luck Victoria!!

Didn’t Amber Nelon Thompson win a golden ticket?

Honestly, Victoria Huggins seems like a sweetheart, but it makes me kind of nervous to see her with her sweet, innocent smile go running into something that could turn out rather different from what she imagined…I want to yell out to her, “Uh…. CAREFUL, HONEY!” I just don’t want her to get hurt. Bless her heart.
