Jerry Redd Passes Away

According to DBM’s post here, Jerry Redd passed away yesterday.  Redd sang tenor for groups like the Kingsmen, the Stamps, the Rangers, and the Plainsmen, among others.  Though he seemed to fade into relative obscurity in his later years, he did appear on the Kingsmen’s Perfecting The Crown 40th anniversary video.  I’ve actually got an old Stamps Quartet record when the group was Jerry Redd singing tenor, Roger McDuff singing lead, Terry Blackwood singing baritone, John Hall on bass, with Joe Roper playing piano.  It’s an excellent album, and Redd was a very good singer in his prime.  Prayers and condolences go to his family in their time of loss, and Heaven’s tenor section just got even stronger.

  1. Actually, I was quoting a message board post from March 12, which I assume is the date of his death. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to find any more details about his death.

Have something to say?
