An Interesting Opportunity For Songwriters

Daniel Mount has an interesting story about Phil Cross offering to exchange songwriting coaching for concert dates.  The crux is that if the writer can get Phil a couple of dates in the area, Cross would come and work with said writer.  It’s an fascinating concept, and is definitely some out of the box thinking in these challenging economic times.

Its really not that new of an idea. Big names groups have done that for years getting smaller groups to fill their dates for them. Lets not pretend he’s doing it to help young writers. He needs help getting dates and it strokes his already massive ego.

  2. John Anderson says:

Phil Cross is out doing the right thing for the RIGHT reason. If Mr. Cross didn’t want to help young writers, he could just give an agency 15% to book the dates for him and just show up and sing. It is amusing but sad how Satan uses folks to tear down God’s work. Good examples are the hype we hear about Gaither, Lowery, EHSS, etc.
