Election Thoughts

I’ve not posted any political topics, but in the wake of the historic election last night, I would be remiss not to say anything.  As a staunch conservative Republican, I think this has to be a wake up call for conservatives.  We’ve been trying to straddle the political fence for quite a while now, and I believe this election shows the futility of doing so.  We need to return to the core values and beliefs of the party that were so prominent in the Reagan era.

My congratulations go to President-elect Obama, and he will have my prayer support, as he should all Christians, regardless of who you voted for in this election.  That’s our duty and command from scripture, that we should pray for our leaders.

Not to be argumentative just for the sake of being argumentative, but the conservatives have been ‘awake’ for the last 8 years. This election was a message by a lot of voters that we’d like them to ‘go back to sleep’.

I don’t disagree with that, but I feel the drift away from core conservative values explains why voters would like us to “go back to sleep.” Thanks for the comment!

What I find encouraging in the midst of my personal dissappointment is the record voter turnout in this election. It’s good to see so many people getting involved in the process, no matter who they supported.
The President-elect will indeed need all of our prayers. My hope is that, while I disagree with him politically, he is what he appears to be: An honorable man who loves his country & his family, & who will do right by both.
Irregardless, we still have work to do for the kingdom of heaven! Amen!

    Janet, I couldn’t agree more.

I am just glad that I am saved and that I know where my true home is, I am excited to know that Jesus will be coming to take me home soon. I feel like we are living in the last days and that the prophecies in the Bible are being fulfilled. I will stand my Lord and my beliefs. I love my country, but she is not what she once was and I pray that God will have mercy on her. I agree that we have lost our “core values” and it is overwhelmingly alarming that so many smart and educated people can be so blind.
