Upcoming Releases From The Canaan Records Vault

Those of us who are collectors of vintage recordings have now cautiously hit a jackpot.  As previously announced, Canaan Records has promised to open their vault and release completely remastered projects from the label’s long history.  Well, the first few of the projects have been announced.  In addition to the Canaan Christmas album, we can expect the following releases:

The Rex Nelon Singers – Expressions of Love – Nov 18th, 2008
The Cathedrals – Sunshine and Roses – Nov 18th, 2008
Wendy Bagwell – This, That and The Other – Coming soon

This is great news, and I’m very anxious to hear the newly remastered versions of these projects.  Keep your eyes peeled for more updates.

  1. Bob says:

These exact titles were previously reissued, if I’m not mistaken, on the Canaan Classics series of just a few years ago. Other titles included selections by The Florida Boys and Rusty Goodman (The Singer). I hope we can expect to see other albums than these which have barely had time to vanish from the store shelves.

“Sunshine and Roses”?? WHOO HOO!!!!! Now put out “You Ain’t Seen Nothin’ Yet”

  3. I’m assuming that these titles, unlike the Canaan Christmas project, will be limited to online availability…no CDs in stores.

    Is that what you gathered?

I hope that’s the case, because they can release titles more quickly if there’s no manufacturing step involved.

I want to add to my Wendy Bagwell collection sooner rather than later!

That’s the inference I got from the information, that these will be available only digitally. I do hope they include the original album art, and not some goofy cover like the Canaan Classics CDs.

  5. Andrew S. says:

I hope they do some of the Happy Goodmans recordings-especially the ones that won Grammy Awards. I would like to have the Florida Boys album that had “When He Was on the Cross.” Sounds like Canaan is proving their original mission by preserving and promoting the heritage of Southern Gospel music.

  6. David Stuart says:

I can’t get too excited by titles that have already been re-released not that long ago. If they were titles that haven’t been released since the original release , that would be different.

hoping to see the tall men released soon
