Some Nice Finds

I spent this past weekend in Branson, MO with my wife for our 6th anniversary.  Before we left to come home, I was able (after much begging and pleading) to convice her to let me hit a couple of flea markets/antique malls to search for some records.  I came home with about 10 LPs, including the ones pictured below, that I am particularly happy with.  I’ve not heard any of them, so comments about them are more than welcomed!

The Oaks’ “Sing For You” is one of two albums recorded with Jim Hamill on baritone (the other being, “I Wouldn’t Take Nothing For My Journey Now”). It includes the Oaks’ rendition of “Ride That Glory Train,” which is pretty similar to the arrangement that the Cathedrals would use on the “Radio Days” CD.

Thanks for the info Kyle. I have “Journey”, it’s a great LP. I wondered if “Glory Train” was the same song that the Cats did. Which LP do you prefer, this one or “Journey”?

I first heard the Thrasher Brothers’ rendition of “One Day At A Time” on the “Southern Gospel Greats of the Century, Volume 2” compilation. I for one never really cared for that song untill I heard this arrangement. It’s very good. Just the right tempo.

    I like this one better.
