The Melody Boys Quartet Announce Retirement
January 24, 2012 2 Comments
News has broken this afternoon via a press release that the Melody Boys Quartet will be retiring at the end of this year. Brian Fuson had the news first on his blog, you can read his post and the accompanying press release here. The Melody Boys have been one of the most solid, yet unsung quartets in our genre. They’ve always had a solid sound, but the lineup in the late 90s or so of Mike Franklin, Jonathan Sawrie, Jeremy Raines, and Gerald Williams was especially good. The group was also where a young Ryan Seaton got his start as well. Gerald Williams is a fantastic bass singer, and truly should be mentioned among the greats. If they come to your area during their farewell tour, by all means go out and see them and support a great quartet!
I hadn’t known Ryan Seaton got his start in that group. I should see if I can dig up any old footage with him.
Ryan was not with them very long. While he was there they released one CD — an independent one in 2003 titled “A Wonderful Love.”
There is a lot of video of the group through the years on the net but I’ve never seen any with Ryan.
