You’ll excuse me for a personal moment here, but I had the sheer joy Thursday evening of kneeling beside my son after he had spent a half hour or so talking with our pastor and helping him pray to receive Jesus as his Savior. Yesterday during our morning service, he went forward to make his decision public and to present himself to be baptized.
He’s only 6. He had been after us for several months about it, and we put it off for a little while to make sure he was really interested, but he kept questioning us and then telling us that he had prayed and asked Jesus in his heart. We had our pastor come over and talk to him Thursday, because at such a young age, we wanted to be sure he really knew what he was doing. It was really surprising to hear him answer our pastor’s questions. He is sharp as a tack, and after talking for a while, his Mommy, myself, and our pastor were absolutely convinced he was ready. There is no comparable joy to helping lead your child to saving faith in Christ. At some point in the next few weeks he will be baptized, and you can be sure this proud daddy will be posting pictures all over the place!
