This song comes from 1998’s Within The Rock album that featured Jay Parrack, Jonathan Wilburn, Mark Trammell, and Tim Riley. While this CD produced the monster hit “In Time, On Time, Every Time”, and the top 5 “Mercy Rescues Me”, this song sat down at track 6. It features a great big band swing track, with some really hot brass licks. Tim Riley sings the verses, while the chorus features Mark Trammell with the melody in the baritone line, with some nice tight harmonies surrounding his melody, including a few jazz chords. After Tim’s second verse, the key changes and Jay Parrack takes the lead on the chorus with some even tighter jazz harmony underneath him. There’s even some nice unison, and solo lines from Jay and Tim that play off each other. The tag is especially nice and there’s a brass break before the last word, “prayer” that is wonderful. Never released as a single, pull out your CD and give this cut a listen. It’s the mid 90’s Gold City at their finest.

That was (is) a great CD. One of my favorites from GC.
It has Tim Parton written all over it!
