Kyle Boreing posted an unofficial anouncement on his blog that Scott Allen has been hired as the permanent lead singer for Mercy’s Mark. David Bruce Murray, Daniel Mount, and Brandon Coomer have all weighed in with their thoughts on this hire. I can’t comment on Mr. Allen, as I have never heard him sing, but I will weigh in with this. I can’t remember a time when a group with so much promise has undergone such massive change in their lineup in so short a time period. If the new lead singer is as good as the other bloggers have said, I can only hope that Garry finally will get some stability. Jones is one of our top arrangers/producers in Southern Gospel Music (a topic for an upcoming blog post), and I was impressed with the Something’s Happening disc. In fact, I like that CD better than Gold City’s Revival. Here is hoping for some great music to come from Mercy’s Mark in the near future, and the fulfillment of simply worlds of potential.
